What is a freezeout poker tournament?
A freezeout poker tournament is the most common kind of poker tournament. You pay your buy-in and get your chips and play until you run out of chips (or win, of course). Players cannot rebuy into the tournament if they run out of chips. Once the chips run out for a player, it's over.

The freezeout poker definition refers to a competition wherein players are disposed of until there is only one player left with the entirety of the chips. Furthermore, players are not permitted to re-purchase or add-on - in a "freezeout", when a player is out of chips, they are knocked out from the competition.

Freezeout poker tournaments, like all tournaments, are marked by increasing blind levels. At the very start, you might receive 10,000 chips, and that's 200 big blinds. However, that same stack might be worth just 100 or 50 big blinds a couple of hours later. You can’t ignore the fact that blinds keep on increasing.

A freeze-out is a tournament where all players start with the same number of chips, there are no rebuys or add ons, and barring some sort of deal, play continues until there is one player left. As players are eliminated, tables are consolidated, until there is only one table left.

Freezeout is a classic variation of the poker tournament with players unable to make a re-buy or an add-on. After losing all his stack, the participant is eliminated from the game. Most of the tournaments are held in freeze-out format so the info of the format is often omitted in the tournament description.
